In the forthcoming months, the government is publishing its long awaited Green Paper on the framework of elderly care. This plan has spent years in the consultation stage looking at all aspects including GP screening for dementia and a new inheritance tax that would prevent forced selling of homes to pay for nursing care. Finally...something is in the pipeline in an area that has largely been neglected by legislators and politicians. For decades, carers had to put up with enormous social and financial pressure whilst supporting their loved ones. Change has been slow in the coming.
